Your CV should show your name, phone number, current location, education, work experience and the kind of role you are applying for. Do not use one confusing CV for every job. If you are applying for sales, show sales experience, customer service, target achievement or product knowledge. If you are applying for a cook or baker role, show kitchen experience, food hygiene, speed and consistency. If you are applying for social media work, show content creation, platforms handled and results.
The first interview question is often: Tell me about yourself. A strong answer is short and focused. Example: My name is Blessing. I live in Surulere. I have two years of sales experience in retail. When asked about your experience, do not only say I have worked before. Explain what you did. Mention the type of business, your duties, your achievements and what you learned. Employers want proof that you understand the work.
When asked about salary, be respectful and realistic. You can say: I saw the salary range in the job post. I am comfortable discussing it based on the responsibilities and work schedule. This sounds more professional than arguing or giving an unclear answer.
On interview day, arrive early, dress neatly, keep your phone reachable and speak with confidence. If you cannot attend, inform the recruiter early. Silence makes recruiters lose trust.
